Jonathon Acorn has been a professional Puppeteer and Clown since 1974.
His particular style has been described as the' Cutting edge of Puppetry' and his Clown as 'Avant Garde'. Having been influenced and indeed,taught by one of the worlds finest Puppeteers-Philippe Genty (Paris) and Clown -Jango Edwards. Both of these artists are leaders in their respective fields. Jonathon has been fortunate enough to work on many occasions with Jango who ,though not so well known in this part of the world (Australasia), has a massive following in Europe.Jango was responsible for the 'Festival of Fools' (late 70's and early 80's) in Amsterdam. Another 'Great Fool' Johnny Melville, both friend and peer deserves a BIG mention in Acorn's hall of influential Artists Johnny also has a very large following in Europe.
If Acorn's style is 'cutting edge 'then theirs is 'razors edge'!
Since 1992, at least 3 months of each years is spent performing at International Festivals (please refer C/V), thus experiencing many different styles of Puppetry and Clowning as well as meeting and discussing various aspects of "the job".
Jonathon believes he can inspire students to consider the role of the Clown in todays society and to appreciate the importance of being able to laugh at ones self as well as others!

' Puppetry is only for little kids' is no longer appropriate and Acorn can prove it....without saying a word (Puppetual E. Motions). Armed with a few puppets,some pretty innovative props and a great sound-track;even the hardest core Arcade-Game Grunt will find it hard to resist the attraction of 'puppet imagery'.
Puppetry is one of those professions that are multi-faceted ie.,the theatre,design, construction,props,scenery,puppet construction,costume design and fabrication,special effects not to mention the acting,manipulation and voice training and the list goes on. There is something to inspire just about everyone and thereby being a fabulous educational opportunity to demonstrate teamwork;a vital skill required for successful workplace interaction.
Acorns Productions offer two totally differing styles of Puppet Shows : The Sausage King (suitable for Primmers up to Intermediates) and Puppetual E. Motions (suitable for Intermediates to Form 4 students).Each of these shows are followed by a mini junk- box puppet- making workshop/discussion session.(Sausage King).Or a mini hands-on puppet manipulation/construction demonstration and discussion session(Puppetual E.Motions)
Each of these shows and sessions last approximately one hour
